Project:
Energy Modeling for House in Pacific Central Costa Rican
Location:
Costa Pacífica, Costa Rica
Request:
improve comfort thermal, with the least electrical consumption.

General description:

House built for vacations in the central Pacific of Costa Rica, for nomadic worker residential use at any time of the year.

Problem:

The local climate is extremely humid, the project sits on a hillside overlooking the sea and the dry bulb temperature is above 30°C at noon for most of the year. It seeks to have the greatest possible thermal comfort with the lowest possible electricity consumption.

Solution:

To find the most energy efficient strategy, ECO carried out its BEM service to evaluate which combination of materials is the most appropriate.

Project:
Energy Modeling for House in Pacific Central Costa Rican
Location:
Costa Pacifica, Costa Rica
Request:
improve comfort thermal, with the least electrical consumption.

Results:

The combination of reflective insulation on the roof and an R8 insulation on the ceilings, plus the placement of thermo-acoustically insulated internal walls, made it possible to demonstrate the impact of thermal stability within the spaces, likewise it is possible to understand what the optimal ventilation schedules are. of the building and at what times of the year should air conditioning be used

Conclusions:

Each design depends on the geographical location, the thermal performance of the envelope depends on the materials to be used, thermal comfort is achieved by understanding how the building can gain or lose heat throughout the year. This can only be known by performing a BEM analysis.
